Being an avid traveller, Cake’s founder Laurine decided to create a series of illustrated city maps for places like this.
It has been a fascinating project - Laurine got to explore these cities through the lens of the community, creating a distinctive representation of the city which focuses on people and places in a unique way.
The rigid and scientific rules of cartography (map-making) simply don't apply to Cake's city maps! While an illustrated map is often a completely useless tool for providing directions, it reflects cities in a beautiful and highly personal way.

Since creating this series, many companies have approached Cake’s founder to work on various projects that would depict their area in the same way as the maps she made for Cake.
